Hi everyone,
I am in the process of onboarding a mobile provider group and they are looking to get some clarity on a couple of hypothetical situations and would love to hear from a rep at Applied Biologics or Advanced Solution.
Payment Delays: If a reimbursement delay causes a provider to miss an invoice deadline, what is Applied Biologics’ approach? Are there any penalties or is there flexibility in cases where the delay is out of the provider’s control?
Liability on Skin Grafts: In the event that a skin graft is accidentally compromised—such as if the graft falls out of the sterile field or is tampered with by home health—how is liability handled? Would Applied Biologics or Advanced Solution be responsible for any complications or costs if something were to go wrong after the graft is applied?
We’d really appreciate insight on these scenarios to better understand how these issues might be handled. Any reps from Applied Biologics or Advanced Solution, or others with experience, who can help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Hi, let me help shed some clarity around your two questions:
The Distributor / Manufacturer is very understanding of the complexity a reimbursement can encounter from time to time. Payment is only expected after the provider is reimbursed and a suggested payment is sent to the provider from RxWound with a copy of the EOB.
In all my other medical device roles, the manufacturer was always understanding of accidents (ie dropping a product outside the sterile field). This would need to be approached on a case by case basis. I will see if there are any guidelines around this as I have yet to encounter this situation.
NOW, as for home health tampering with the graft I would suggest the provider leaves CLEAR AND DETAILED post application "rules" for the patient to share with any other health care provider and/or family. I would highly suggest that the provider contacts home health to advise them of the treatment, if home health is to continue. A great way to ensure the graft stays in place is to have the provider initial and date the dressing, with "do not remove" or "DNRB" note on it. Can be done easily with a sharpie.
Hope that helps :)
