The DON at a hospice facility stated that "If a wound occurred while in hospice; only hospice can treat the wound, not any outside medical care. I haven't been able to locate the Medicare guidelines to respond to her concern. Can anyone help me?

Yes, I have worked home care for years. Hospice is a separate program for Medicare and takes total care of the patient. If the wound is serious enough to require allografts then the patient needs to leave the Hospice Care program and rejoin traditional Medicare. Hospice is for end of life care, only. As puzzling as this sounds they very rarely will even treat an infection including a UTI.
